Two from Andhra arrested for laptop, mobile phone thefts

Mysore/Mysuru: In a major breakthrough, the Vijayanagar Police have arrested two persons from Andhra Pradesh for stealing laptops and mobile phones, worth lakhs of rupees.

The arrested have been identified as Babu, 23 and B.K. Manohar, 34, both of Bodiguttalapalli in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The Police have recovered 8 stolen laptops and 12 cell phones, totally worth Rs. 8 lakh from them.

Following numerous cases of laptop and mobile phone thefts from homes and PG accommodations in Vijayanagar Police Station limits in the last one month, the Police had formed a special team to nab the culprits.

 Intensifying the patrol, the Police succeeded in nabbing Babu who was moving about in a suspicious manner carrying a bag near a college in Vijayanagar Second Stage on May 12.

During interrogation, Babu spilled the beans on the involvement of his associate B.K. Manohar, following which he too was picked up from Yelavarahundi in T. Narasipur taluk the same day, according to Police sources.

Following confession of the duo, the Police recovered 8 laptops and 12  high-end cell phones that were stolen from houses and PG accommodations in Vijayanagar and surrounding areas.

The nabbing and seizure operation was carried out by Vijayanagar Inspector B.S. Ravishankar, PSIs V.R. Shabareesh, Indramma and K. Narayana and staff Murali Gowda, Shankar, Somaradhya, Pradeep Kumar, Tilak Kumar, Annappa Devadiga, Nandish, Manjunath and Kumar, under the guidance of DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and NR ACP M. Shivashankar.
