Two held for snatching gold chain of former MP’s son

Mysuru:  The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police, on May 4, have arrested two persons on charges of snatching the gold chain of the son of a former MP and have recovered the chain weighing about 140 grams, worth about Rs.3.75 lakh and have seized a two-wheeler used for the crime.

The accused have been identified as Imran Khan of Kyathamaranahalli and K. Preetham of P&T Quarters at Udayagiri in city.

The accused on Mar.15 at about 1 am, snatched the gold chain of Poorvaj Vishwanath, son of former MP A.H. Vishwanath from behind when he was opening the gate of the house.

Though Poorvaj chased the miscreant on foot for some distance, the miscreant hopped on to a Suzuki Access scooter on which another accused was waiting and fled from the spot.

Poorvaj had lodged a complaint at Saraswathipuram Police Station in this regard which was transferred to the CCB by the City Police Commissioner.

The CCB, which took up the investigations, arrested the accused at Gayathripuram and during interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of committing the crime. Basede on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered the stolen gold chain.

DCP Mahaninga B. Nandaganvi and CCB ACP B.R. Lingappa supervised CCB Inspector Shivaswamy, Shivaprakash, ASI Chandregowda, Alexander and staff Chikkanna, Ramaswamy, Shivaraju, Lakshmikanth, M.R. Ganesh, Yakub Shariff, Anand, Rajendra, Niranjan, Chamundamma and others in the nabbing and recovery operation.
