Cops launch hunt to nab ganja supplier in Periyapatna
Mysuru: In separate cases, Mandi Police have arrested two persons and seized 592 grams of ganja, while youths prevented smuggling of ganja at a village in Periyapatna and have handed over 1 kg of the narcotic substance to the Police.
In the first case, Mandi Police have arrested two persons who were transporting ganja in their two-wheeler and have seized 592 grams of ganja from them.
Those arrested are Zubair Khaman and Riyaz Pasha alias Giddu. Zubair is already an accused under NDPS Act.
On Aug. 3 at about 7.40 pm, Mandi Police, who were on special patrolling, saw two youths moving on a two-wheeler on Umar Khayam Road carrying a plastic carry bag with them.
After confirming that the duo were Zubair and Riyaz, the Cops stopped them and began to check their belongings. When the Police questioned Zubair about what he was carrying in the carry bag, he told that he was taking groceries and other household items. But when the Police opened the carry bag, they found ganja and on questioning, he is said to have told the Police that they were looking for customers.
Cops, who seized the ganja, weighed it and found that they were carrying 592 grams of ganja. When the Police enquired from where they bought it, they are said to have told the Police that they had bought it from one Amir Khan of Udayagiri for Rs. 15,000.
Mandi Police have registered a case and are investigating.
Youths prevent ganja smuggling
Meanwhile, a group of youths prevented smuggling of ganja at Panchavalli village in Periyapatna on Monday evening and have handed over 1 kg ganja which was being smuggled. Police have launched a hunt to nab the accused, who fled from the spot when he was cornered by youths.
Yesterday evening, the youths caught 40-year-old Zabiulla of the village, who was smuggling ganja in his four-wheeler and succeeded in confiscating the narcotic substance. Zabiulla somehow managed to flee from the spot and the youths handed over the ganja and the four-wheeler to Periyapatna Police, who have registered a case and launched a hunt to nab Zabiulla.
Police told SOM, “Zabiulla runs a shop in the village and is involved in supplying ganja since many years. He was earlier arrested in ganja supplying case and was jailed for 3 months and was out of jail last month. After staying quiet for a few days, he is again involved in supplying ganja.” Periyapatna Police, who have registered a case, have launched a hunt to nab Zabiulla.
Case registered for consuming ganja
Devaraja Police, on Monday, have registered a case against a youth, who had allegedly consumed ganja and was creating ruckus in front of J.K. Grounds in city. The youth has been identified as 23-year-old Manukumar, a resident of Giridarshini Layout in city.
Devaraja Police, who were patrolling near J.K. Grounds, saw the youth creating ruckus and causing inconvenience to the public and took him into custody. On questioning him, the youth is said to have told the Police that he had consumed ganja, following which he was subjected to medical examination at K.R. Hospital, where it was confirmed that he had indeed consumed the narcotic substance, following which the Police registered a case.
