Two killed as bikes collide near Badanavalu

Nanjangud: In a hit-and-run case, two persons were killed while another sustained injuries when an unidentified bike collided into their bike and sped away on Chamarajanagar-Nanjangud Road near Badanavalu on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Mahadevaswamy (35) of Bogadi in Mysuru and Prajwal (25) of K.R. Nagar. The injured is Nanjunda. All the three were friends and on Monday they had gone triple riding to attend Chamarajeshwara Jatra at Chamarajanagar and were returning on the bike at about 5 pm.

When they were proceeding near Badanavalu, the unidentified bike while overtaking another vehicle hit the bike on which Mahadevaswamy, Prajwal and Nanjunda were riding resulting in Mahadevaswamy and Prajwal sustaining serious injuries and Nanjunda suffering minor injuries.

Though all the injured were admitted to a hospital, Mahadevaswamy and Prajwal succumbed to injuries at the hospital on Tuesday.

Kavalande Sub-Inspector Krishnakanth Koli said that the rider, who had hit the bike the trio were riding has fled from the spot soon after the accident.

A case has been registered at Kavalande Police Station.
