Nanjangud: In a tragic road accident, a motorcycle rider and a pedestrian were killed on the spot, while the pillion rider sustained injuries near Tandavapura on Mysuru-Nanjangud Road yesterday.
B. Shivanna (40) of Tandavapura and Mithun (19) of Galipura near Chamarajanagar are the deceased.
Mithun, an employee of TVS factory near Tandavapura, was travelling back to Chamarajanagar after finishing work on a motorcycle along with his colleague Anil Patil on Friday afternoon when he knocked down pedestrian Shivanna who was crossing the 4-lane Mysuru-Nanjangud Highway near Tandavapura after casting his vote. Due to the impact, both Shivanna and rider Mithun sustained severe injuries and died at the spot. Anil Patil, who was riding pillion, sustained injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru.
The jurisdictional Nanjangud Traffic Police visited the spot and conducted mahazar. A case has been registered in this regard.
