Two members of notorious Irani Gang arrested

Gold chains worth about Rs.1.68 lakh recovered

Mysuru: Nazarbad Police have arrested two members of the notorious Irani Gang who were trying to break open the lock of a parked two-wheeler.

The arrested are 19-year-old Mustafa and 20-year-old Abutalif, both residents of Metupalyam in Tamil Nadu. During interrogation, the accused are said to have told the Police that they belonged to the Irani Gang and had stolen a two-wheeler near the Rural Bus Stand in May which they had used to snatch gold chains at Nazarbad and Vidyaranyapuram Police limits. The accused further said that they had sold the gold chain in Metupalyam. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police took the accused to Metupalyam  and recovered two gold chains weighing about 56 grams and worth about Rs.1.68 lakh from them.

Devaraja Sub-Division ACP S. Badrinath supervised Nazarbad Inspector M. Mahadevaswamy and staff Prakash, Hiranaiah, Umesh, Madhukesh, P. Chethan and Srinivas in the nabbing and seizing operation, according to a press release from the Public Relations Officer (PRO), City Police Commissioner’s Office, Mysuru.
