Two sentenced to five years jail for assault

Mysuru: The Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced two persons for five years rigorous imprisonment for assaulting a person over financial feud.

Those who were sentenced are B.C. Nagendra Murthy and his father Sontrahalli Chandrashekar alias Shekar, residents of Benakahalli in T. Narasipur taluk.

On May 30, 2013 at about 5.30 pm, Nagendra and Shekar, assaulted one B. Raju with a knife over a financial feud near a hotel close to Biksha Mutt in the village.

T. Narasipur Police, who had registered a case in this regard, had submitted a charge-sheet against both the accused to the Court.

Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Krishnaiah, who heard the arguments from both the sides, found both the accused guilty of the crime and sentenced the duo to five years rigorous imprisonment besides imposing a penalty of Rs.10,000 each.

The sentence include three years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.5,000 each under Column 326 read with 34 and six months simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs.1,000 each under Column 504 read with 34.

In-Charge Public Prosecutor P.B. Dharennavar argued on behalf of the Government.
