Two students killed in separate accidents

Mysuru:  Two students were killed in separate accidents since last evening. While one student was killed atop Chamundi Hill, the other lost his life at near Chunchanakatte.

In the first incident, a student was killed and the pillion rider suffered serious injuries when a car rammed into the bike near the Watch Tower Junction atop Chamundi Hill last night.

The deceased student is Aravinda Rao (21), son of Rajarao of Saangawadi Village in Kollegal taluk. He was an MBA student. The seriously injured pillion rider has been identified as 20-year-old Namana, a native of Sakleshpur in Hassan district and a B.Com student. She has been admitted to K.R. Hospital.

Both Aravinda Rao and Namana are said to be studying in JSS College on Ooty Road in city. Yesterday evening,  Aravinda and Namana proceeded to Chamundi Hill on a bike (KA-09-HL-7829). After visiting Chamundeshwari Temple, they were proceeding downhill when a car rammed into the bike and sped away.  

Aravinda, who sustained serious head injuries, breathed his last on the way to a hospital. Siddarthanagar Traffic Police are investigating.

In another incident, a diploma student was killed on the spot when a bike rammed into an electric pole on Hunsur-K.R. Nagar road near Chunchanakatte last night. The deceased has been identified as Vidaat (20), a resident of Diddahalli. The person, who was riding the bike, has been injured.

It is reported that Vidaat (riding pillion) and another person (not identified yet) were proceeding on a bike from Chunchanakatte at about 10.25 pm when the rider was blinded due to the high beam light of a vehicle coming in the opposite direction.

Unable to see the road, the rider rammed the bike into a roadside electric pole and Vidaat was killed on the spot. The rider suffered serious injuries and he has been admitted to K.R. Nagar General Hospital.

K.R. Nagar Police have registered a case.
