Two-wheeler, mobile phone thief arrested

Bikes, scooters, mobile phones worth Rs. 5.45 lakh recovered

Mysore/Mysuru: Devaraja Police have arrested a 21-year-old youth on charges of lifting two-wheelers and snatching mobile phones and have recovered five two-wheelers and three mobile phones, all worth about Rs. 5.45 lakh, from him. The accused was arrested on Wednesday and the Police have also take a minor boy into custody for helping the accused in the crime.

The arrested is Santosh alias Santhu, a resident of Banashankari 3rd Stage in Bengaluru. He was arrested while trying to sell a stolen two-wheeler on B.N. Road in city and the minor boy was also taken into custody.

During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed of lifting two-wheelers in Metagalli Police limits in city, K.P. Agrahara, Kengeri and Kalasipalya Police limits in Bengaluru besides snatching mobile phones  from the public.

Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered five two-wheelers worth Rs. 5 lakh and three mobile phones worth Rs. 45,000 from him.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP M.S. Shashidhar guided Devaraja Inspector R. Diwakar, Lashkar Inspector Suresh Kumar, Sub-Inspectors S. Raju and M.R. Leelavathi and staff Venugopal, Suresh, Nandeesh, Pradeep, Chandru and Veeresh Bagewadi in the nabbing and recovery operation.
