Two-wheelers encroach busy Kalidasa Road

Sir,

The road opposite ICICI Bank on busy Kalidasa Road has become unusable due to complete neglect by MCC Zone-4 engineers and V.V. Puram Traffic Police.

The entire stretch of road, which is marked as a ‘No Parking Zone’, is blocked by two-wheelers. This forces pedestrians, including children and senior citizens, to walk over drain slabs or step onto the busy road, risking their lives against undisciplined motorists who routinely break the one-way rule.

People are parking their two-wheelers and four-wheelers in the designated ‘No Parking Zone.’ This unauthorised blocking of spaces is leading to severe congestion and a lack of parking available for public use

By allowing this, local authorities are directly violating Supreme Court directives which mandate that footpaths belong exclusively to pedestrians, not vehicles or hawkers.

I urge the V.V. Puram Traffic Police to clear the parking immediately and reclaim this space and reserve the footpath for pedestrians.
