Victim had made motorcyclists cough up fine for killing a hen at Bore Anandur village

Mysuru: In a revenge attack, one person was assaulted with a machete at Bore Anandur near Yelwal yesterday. The man was attacked for intervening in an incident where a motorcycle hit a hen, killing it and where the persons who were riding the motorcycle were made to pay a fine.

The attackers have been identified as Puneeth and Narayana and the victim is 40-year-old Manjunath, son of Marigowda, a resident of Bore Anandur. Manjunath has been admitted to Brindavan Hospital at Jayalakshmipuram for deep cut wounds. Both the assaulters are absconding and the Police are on their lookout.

According to the Police and eye-witnesses, Manjunath was sitting at a shop near the Gram Panchayat office at around 2.15 pm when Puneeth and Narayana came in a bike and assaulted Manjunath with a machete. They assaulted him on his neck, arms and back. After the assault, the attackers sped away. Passers-by who spotted a bleeding Manjunath who was crying for help shifted him to the hospital where he is being treated at intensive care unit. Yelwal Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh and staff rushed to the spot and conducted a mahazar.

When Mysuru South Rural Police Inspector Jagadish went to Bore Anandur village to probe the incident, villagers told him that a few days back, a speeding motorcycle had killed a hen in the village and Manjunath had intervened and had made the bike riders cough up the cost of the hen to the owner.

The villagers told the Police that the incident had enraged Puneeth and Narayana and they had taken revenge on Manjunath.
