Mysuru: Surabhi Gana Kalamandira Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will be observing 38th Sri Tyagaraja and Sri Purandara Dasara Aradhana Mahotsava on Feb. 15 and 16 at Sri Prasanna Parvathi Kalyana Mantapa, Kalidasa Road, Vontikoppal, Mysuru, with the following programmes:
February 15
10 am: ‘Tyagaraja Namana,’ group rendition of all the Kshetra Kritis of Tyagaraja by the students of Surabhi Ganakala Mandira. Kshetra Kritis are bunch of compositions on the Presiding Deities of various temples which Tyagaraja visited; 4.30 pm: ‘Sri Purandara Namana,’ group rendition of the Kritis of Purandaradasa by the students of Surabhi Gana Kalamandira; 6 pm: Vidu. Dr. R.N. Srilatha will release a book titled ‘Tyagarajara Guccha Kritigalu,’ authored by Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar.
February 16
8 am: Goshti Gayana of Purandara Navaratna Kritis by the students of Surabhi Gana Kalamandira; 9 am: Goshti Gayana of Tyagaraja’s Pancharatna Kritis by senior musicians and students; 10 am: Senior musician Vid. Hosahalli Anantha will be felicitated with the title ‘Nada Surabhi’ followed by a flute concert by Vid. Mysore A. Chandan Kumar, accompanied by Vidu. Sindhu Suchethan on violin, Vid. Arjun Kumar on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujan on ghata.
