Tyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana at N.R. Mohalla

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of the Annual Music Festival of Saint Tyagaraja and Saint Purandaradasa Aradhana Celebrations, N.R. Mohalla Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, has organised the following music concerts at Sri Prasanna Mahaganapathi Temple on Shivaji Road in N.R. Mohalla from Feb. 24 to 26:

Feb. 24 (6.30 pm): Grand Music Recital by Bengaluru Brothers — Vid. M.B. Hariharan and Vid. S. Ashok — accompanied by Vid. Keshav Mohan Kumar on violin, Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy on mridanga and Vid. M.R. Manjunath on ghata.

Feb. 25 (6.30 pm): Grand Music Concert by Vidu. S. Mahathi (Chennai) with Vidu. Adithi Krishna Prakash on violin, Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. Sharath Kowshik on ghata.

Feb. 26 (9 am): Nadaswaram and rendering of Kritis of Saint Tyagaraja and Saint Purandaradasa by individuals; 11 am: Honouring of artistes Vidu. Pushpa Srinivasan and Vid. M.R. Manjunath; 12 noon: Pancharatna Kritis of Saint Tyagaraja in chorus; 1.15 pm: Concluding Session and Mahamangalarathi.

Profile: Ashok and Hariharan are under the guidance of Vid. H.S. Sudheendra. ‘A’ grade artistes at All India Radio for Karnatak vocal duet, they are Post-graduates in Karnatak music from Madras University.

S. Mahathi is one of the most celebrated Karnatak musician and playback singers of today with more than 600 songs. Her father Thiruvayur P. Sekar is one of the senior-most disciples of Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna and her mother Vasanthi Sekar is a flautist and a disciple of Flute Mali and N. Kesi.
