Tyagis come alive through line art

Mysuru: District Freedom Fighters Association President Dr. M.G. Krishnamurthy inaugurated the exhibition of artist U.G. Mohankumar Aradhya to mark the 73rd Independence Day celebrations at the Suchitra Art Gallery in Kalamandira premises here on Sunday.

The line drawings by Aradhya included that of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, K. Gopalkrishna Gokhale, Lala Lajpat Rai, Annie Besant, Aluru Venkat Rao, Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and others which drew the attention of the visitors.

The line drawings gave information of freedom fighters’ birth, death and their contribution to the struggle.

Even the pictures of Rani Abbakka, Jhansi Rani Lakshmi Bai, Sarojini Naidu, Sangollli Rayanna, Bhagat Singh, Kittur Rani Chennamma, S.N. Hardikar, Kasturba Gandhi, V.D. Savarkar and several others were on display.

University of Mysore (UoM) Gandhi Bhavan Director Prof. M.S. Shekar, poet M. Muthuswamy, ex-serviceman P.K. Biddappa, Keerthi Mahila Sangha President Manjula Ramesh, leaders Govindaraju, Kalihundi Shivakumar and others were present on the occasion.
