Mysore/Mysuru: U.M. Gurushantappa of Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Mysuru, has been elected as the State Chairman for BAI Karnataka for the year 2020-21 in the recently held Builders’ Association of India elections. N. Subramanya has been nominated as BAI Karnataka State Secretary.
The first General Council and Managing Committee meeting of Karnataka State was held online and members discussed about the COVID-19 situation wherein the construction industry is facing difficulties and members expressed their views about how to tackle the issues in this present situation.
More safety measures in the construction sites, skill development programmes for the local labours in view of the migration of labourers to different States, abnormal increase in prices of construction materials and issues related to Government contracts were discussed in detail.
Respective BAI Centre Chairmen gave report on the activities done to the needy construction fraternity during the lockdown period.
The Council nominated the following persons for various Committees.
State Advisors: Past National President Vijaya Raghava Reddy & Past National Vice-President of BAI K.Sriram; State Spokesperson: Past National President Vijaya Raghava Reddy; Opening New Centres: Past State Chairman N.S. Muralidhara; Grievance Redressal: U.M. Gurushantappa; CMA matters: Bangalore Centre Chairman Ravindra; Membership Developement: All Centre Chairmen; Government Liaisoning: Abdul Sattar.
It was decided to bring to the notice of the Government of Karnataka to implement as per the memorandum by Union Finance Minister, Government of India in the letter dated 13th May 2020 towards the relief to contractors and MSMEs.
The meeting also discussed expanding the activities of Builders Association of India by opening new centres across Karnataka.
