Udupi Krishna Mutt gears up for President’s visit

Mysuru: President Pranab Mukherjee, who will be inaugurating a private hospital in Udupi, will also visit the famous Udupi Sri Krishna Temple on June 18. The President will also visit Sri Kollur Mookambika Temple before heading back to New Delhi.

President Mukherjee will arrive at Mangaluru International Airport and late board a chopper to Udupi where will visit Sri Krishna Temple and later board the same chopper and visit the Kollur Mookambika Temple. In the wake of the President’s tour, devotees will not be allowed to  Sri Krishna Temple between 9 am and 2 pm and Kollur Temple between 10.30 am and 6 pm on June 18.

The Udupi Krishna Mutt has also invited CM Siddharamaiah to Sri Krishna Temple but there is no official communication from the Chief Minister’s Office.  Sources at the Mutt said that the CM had been invited to visit the temple on many occasions but there was no response from him.

Speaking to mediapersons yesterday, Pejawar Mutt Seer Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji, who is currently heading the Krishna Mutt, said that he had invited CM to the temple and it was up to him to decide. The Swamiji said that he had no idea why the CM was not visiting the temple.
