Mysuru: Udupi Palimaru Mutt Seer Sri Vidyadheesha Teertha Sripada, who set a record in Udupi Paryaya and turned 70, was felicitated with a floral headgear and the idol of Lord Sri Krishna, at a programme organised by Sri Krishna Trust, Sri Krishna Mitra Mandali, T.K. Layout, at Sri Krishnadhama in city yesterday.
Veteran scholar Vijayendra Acharya, who presented Guru Vandana to the Seer, said, there are two different traditions being practiced in the society; Santha (Saint) and Santhana. While Santha tradition highlights the practice of worshipping the God and endearing self to the divine, the Santhana tradition is marked by the worries of heir and next generation. It is not easy to overcome kama (desire) and krodha (anger) and practice celibacy.
Palimaru Mutt Seer, who is an ardent worshipper of Udupi Sri Krishna, boosted his inner strength by worshipping Krishna than finding happiness in the external world, he added.
While the Maharajas earlier ruled the provinces, saints ruled over the minds of several people. It is not so easy to develop an influential personality. It requires qualities like mental preparations, commitment and dedication.
Dasa Vaibhava, a music concert by Vid. Vidyabhushana and his daughter Medha Vidyabhushana, enthralled the gathering.
