UGD work over, but traffic woes continue

Sir,

Repeated trenching works taken up for Underground Drainage (UGD) pipeline laying from Nirmala Convent Junction towards Gokulam Third Stage were completed nearly two months ago.

During the execution of the civil works, motorists and pedestrians had to endure severe inconvenience due to dust, traffic congestion and unsafe road conditions.

However, despite the completion of the pipeline works several weeks ago, the authorities concerned have failed to restore the road to a proper motorable condition.

The stretch continues to remain uneven and hazardous, making commuting extremely difficult, particularly during peak hours.

The junction of Contour Road and 9th Cross has become a major bottleneck, resulting in frequent traffic snarls and inconvenience to road users.

Residents and commuters are unable to understand why the road has been left in such a deplorable condition months after completion of the underground works. Tax-paying citizens are being subjected to avoidable hardship daily.

The Mysuru City Corporation and the agencies concerned must immediately take up permanent restoration and resurfacing of the damaged stretch and ensure that the road is made safe and fully motorable without any further delay.
