Mysuru – The United Kingdom will soon introduce Face Recognition System in all its Police Stations to know if any person’s criminal past by comparing it with the database, said Hassan Ugail, researcher at the Centre Visual Computing, University of Bradford, here yesterday.
He was speaking on the topic ‘The rise of artificial intelligence and World War III: Man Vs. Machine at the University of Mysore yesterday.
Stating that it was not possible for the Police to recognise criminals with the existing facilities, he said that the new system will have a combination of high-resolution camera system which takes pictures in five different angles in just one click and will also provide details about the face.
He said that the system was so powerful that if only a part of face was fed into the system it could recognise the face.
The Centre for Visual Computing has also come out with a thermal camera to find out if a person was lying. University of Mysore Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dayanand Mane, UoM International Centre Director G.R. Janardhana, Faculty of Science and Technology Dean T.K. Umesh were present.
