Mysore/Mysuru: Umang Cotton and Silk Expo, featuring more than 1,50,000 varieties of sarees and apparel items, began at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry in Shivarampet, Mysuru, yesterday. The expo is open between 11 am and 9 pm till May 27.
A walk through the expo is like taking a tour of India’s textile colours. Gujarat Bandhinis, wide range of South Indian Silk Sarees with traditional motifs, Kantha Stitch Silk Sarees, Burberry, Tangail, Chiffon Sarees from Varanasi, Kashmiri Kani Shawls and Raffle Shawls, Kota Doria from Rajasthan, Tanchoi, Banarasi Jamdaani, Lucknow Chikan from Uttar Pradesh, Pochampally Cotton, Venkatagiri and Uppada Silk Sarees too are available.
Offering discounts on many products, the Expo has a huge range of eye-catching Bhagalpuri silks, flowy items and sarees. Banaras silk and silk cotton from Uttar Pradesh give stiff competition to Rajasthani dabu print, bandage and Gujarat patola, Bihar Tussar silk in mesmerising colours.
