Mysuru: The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (DCDRF) has imposed a fine of Rs. 12,000 on a tailoring shop for delivering un-size wedding suit, which had put the groom in an awkward position as he had to go to his reception in formals and ready-made suit.
While the tailoring shop, which was fined, is Raj Wear on Devaraj Urs Road, the groom, who had approached the DCDRF is Sunil, a resident of Kuvempunagar in city.
Sunil had approached Raj Wear to get his wedding suit stitched and after giving his measurement, Sunil had paid the money in advance for the wedding suit. The wedding was scheduled on Dec. 6, 2016.
The tailoring shop delivered the wedding suit on Nov. 29 and when Sunil tried the wedding suit, it was not fitting him.
He then went to the tailoring shop and asked the tailor to alter the suit to fit him. But even after altering the suit four times, the tailor was not able to ready the wedding suit to his (Sunil) size.
Sunil in his complaint has stated that the tailor began to ignore his phone calls though he (tailor) had altered the wedding suit multiple times. Upset over this, Sunil approached the DCDRF in Feb. 2017 with a complaint against the tailor.
Though the tailor claimed that the dress was already delivered and the case be dismissed, H.M. Shivakumaraswamy, President of the DCDRF, ordered Raj Wear to pay the total cost of Rs. 18,525, including the cost of the clothes with an interest of 18 percent from the date of payment along with a compensation of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 2,000 towards legal expenses.
