Mysuru: The contractor of the ongoing Fun Fair at Dasara Exhibition Grounds has been served a notice by the Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) for drilling a borewell without prior permission from the authorities.
It is alleged that the contractor undertook the drilling secretly to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to the replica of Niagara Falls — a major crowd-puller at the Summer Exhibition, which began on May 9 and will conclude on June 17. The KEA claims that no official permission was sought for the borewell and some KEA employees are suspected of colluding with the contractor, according to sources.
Reacting to the incident, KEA Chief Executive Officer K. Rudresh has issued a notice to the contractor, demanding an explanation for the unauthorised activity.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, KEA Chairman Ayub Khan confirmed that the contractor drilled the borewell to address the inadequate water supply to Niagara Falls’ replica. “A notice has been served, and further legal action will follow after receiving the contractor’s reply,” he said, adding that the KEA had not granted any permission or electrical facility for such drilling.
