Unauthorised shop-keepers atop Chamundi Hill vacate voluntarily

Mysuru: With the authorities setting Sept. 25 deadline to vacate unauthorised shops, more than 50 shop-keepers atop Chamundi Hill voluntarily vacated their shops on Tuesday night.

The shops were located close to Mahishasura statue and the bus stand.

Following directions from District Minister V. Somanna, the Revenue, PWD and Gram Panchayat authorities  had cleared 97 unauthorised shops atop Chamundi Hill on Sept.12.

The authorities issued title deeds to 54 shop-keepers and asked them to vacate by Sept. 25, following which the shopkeepers voluntarily vacated  their shops last night before today’s deadline.

Meanwhile, Tahsildar T. Ramesh Babu said that 101 shop-keepers who have been issued title deeds, have been accommodated in the Gram Panchayat’s commercial complex, while sheds will be built for 54 other shop-keepers who have not been issued title deeds, in a couple of days.
