Unemployed youth commits suicide by jumping into Bharachukki Falls

Kollegal: A 23-year-old unemployed youth from Mysuru, committed suicide by jumping into Bharachukki Falls at Shivanasamudra in the taluk.

The deceased has been identified as Sagar (23), son of Somanath and a resident of Gayathripuram in Mysuru. It is learnt the unemployment drove Sagar to take the extreme step.

As there was decreased water flow at Bharachukki Falls, the body of Sagar was found stuck between the rocks. Kollegal Rural Sub-Inspector Ganesh and staff, based on the information provided by the villagers, visited the spot during which Sagar’s bike and mobile phone were found. The Sub-Inspector, who obtained the mobile phone number of his father, informed him about the tragedy.

Deceased Sagar’s father had lodged a missing complaint at Alanahalli Police Station on July 17 and following information from Sub-Inspector Ganesh, Sagar’s father Somanath, who rushed to Kollegal, identified the body as that of his son.

Somanath told the Police that Sagar, who was unable to complete his degree course, was searching for a job and depressed over not getting a job, he may have ended his life. Kollegal Rural Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
