Bengaluru: Communications of all State-run Universities will go digital from July 15, with Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan, who is also the Higher Education Minister, on Tuesday instructing all University heads to shift their communication modes to e-Office.
Speaking at the inauguration of the affiliation portal designed by the State Higher Education Department, in association with National Informatics Centre at Bengaluru, Dr. Ashwathnarayan told heads of the Universities that even communications with the Government should be of digital/online mode starting from July 15.
Pointing out that all Varsities should convert to e-Office and also the files to the Government should be forwarded through digital mode, he said that switching to e-Office will put an end to holding of files at various levels for no reason.
Maintaining that e-Office will ensure no delay in clearing of files, he said that from the forthcoming academic year (2020-21), the affiliation process will completely go into a digital mode.
Noting that Universities should submit all details and data to the Government online, he asserted that this will avoid unnecessary delay in the affiliation process. Besides there will be more transparency in the functioning of the Universities, he added.
The switching to e-Office means that all modes of communications with the Government, which were hitherto going on through physical files, posts and letters, will now go online. Also the new system will put an end to manual process, which had an underlying scope for errors. The new system, which uses the latest available technology, is called as University Management System, through which system, the Varsities are required to permit new Colleges, grant sanction for starting of fresh courses and communicate & correspond administrative issues with the Government.
