Unkempt toilets add to civic woes

Mysore/Mysuru: Lack of maintenance at most of the public toilets with urinals at parks and public places in the city has been testing the patience of general public, with the tepid smell emanating from these urinals.

The toilet complexes including urinals at D. Jaware Gowda Park and Sri Rama Park in Saraswathipuram, Lava Kusha Park in Kuvempunagar, Snake Park in Vidyaranyapuram, Subbarao Park in Nivedita Nagar and several other parks in the city are neglected with no maintenance and cleaning, complained Basavaraj, a senior citizen.

At some of the places, toilets have been locked due to the lack of adequate maintenance staff. In such cases, alternate measures should be taken. If this is the pathetic situation in Mysuru which topped Clean City rankings, will it be possible for the city to reclaim the top spot? asked Basavaraj.

The officials should focus on such issues as it has been already brought to the notice of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner, he said.
