‘Unnath Bharath Abhiyan’ outreach activity in rural area

Mysore/Mysuru: The NSS and Red Cross Youth Wing of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, under the banner of ‘Unnath Bharath Abhiyan’ (UBA) conducted an outreach activity at Hirikyathanahalli hobli, Hunsur Taluk recently.

An enthusiastic team of 55 students and 12 faculty Coordinators from each Department of VVCE participated. Activities like health camp, creating awareness about some social causes like dowry system and Swachh Bharat, planting of saplings and educational programmes on basics of computer and basic concepts of electricity were held. 

The outreach activity was completed with the support of Shilpa, Chairperson, Gram Panchayat, Hirikyathanahalli, Swamygowda, Member, Gram Panchayat, Narasimha Murthy, Head Master, Govt. High School, Hirikyathanahalli, C.D. Raghu and also by the teachers and the members of Gram Panchayat.

Health camp

The health camp was organised in association with ClearMedi Radiant Hospital, Mysuru. The village people actively participated in the medical camp. Doctors of the hospital educated people about prevention of diseases.

Awareness skit

The students of VVCE enacted a skit creating awareness about dowry harassment and it was well-received by the people. The students also created awareness about various issues like ground water harvesting, plastic awareness, crop rotation by visiting each house in the village.

Awareness about education was done through paintings.

In the evening, cultural programmes were conducted. A skit for creating an awareness about fake saints was enacted by the students of Govt. High School of Hirikyathanahalli, directed by Honey from EEE Department.

The activity was guided and supported by Dr. Gopala Reddy, NSS Chief Coordinator and Associate Professor, Department of EEE, VVCE.

 Dr. M.A. Shriraj, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, Dr. H.L. Gururaj, Department of CSE, Prof. C.D. Divya of CSE, Prof. N. Shashank of CSE, Prof. S. Rajini of ISE, Prof. Vinod of ME, Prof. Thamme Gowda of ME, Prof. Sharath of ECE, Prof. Karthik of Physics and Mohan, Instructor, were also part of the outreach activity.
