Unscientific road expansion work on Mangaluru NH 75

For Representation Only

Sir,

Recently, our travel to Mangaluru from Mysuru by road was particularly inconvenient and chaotic from Mani in Puttur to B.C. Road in Bantwal as the stretch is in complete chaos due to the National Highway 75 (NH 75) 4-lane expansion works.

It is particularly very unsafe for motor vehicles due to the non-existence of work markings on the NH. The stretch is filled with dust and gets slushy during rains.

There have been instances of KSRTC buses getting stuck in the slush on the Highway stretch between Mani and Kalladka. The roads are barely visible at night due to the absence of reflector markings indicating the ongoing expansion works.

Motorists are having a tough time negotiating the unscientific road works particularly at night time. This has led to vehicles breaking down and getting unrecognisable due to the dust.

Deep excavations, hill cutting, and flyover works are going on at some stretches of the NH 75 between Mani and B.C. Road. There are potholes and craters at every 500 m of the 14-km stretch. Motorists will be forced to look for alternative routes if these concerns are not addressed immediately.
