UoM Acting V-C clarifies on his ‘frequent’ visits to girls hostel

Mysore: UoM Acting VC Prof. Dayanand Mane has clarified with respect to his frequent visits to girls hostel which had prompted Varsity Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna to write a letter to Higher Education Minister Basavaraja Rayareddy.

In his clarification, Prof. Mane has stated that the hostel inmates had personally visited him at his office with a complaint of poor quality food being supplied at the hostel and also with a request to install ceiling fans.

“The students had also insisted that I personally visit the hostel for an inspection to take stock of the situation,” he added.

Prof. Mane also mentioned that he had visited the girls hostel accompanied by other officials after inspecting the men’s hostel.

Hostel inmates come to the rescue of Acting V-C

Meanwhile, in response to the news published on Apr.18 in a section of the press, few hostel inmates have termed the allegations as baseless and added that the Acting V-C had visited the hostel based only on their request.

They said that the University collected Rs. 5,000 towards HRA but failed to provide basic facilities which led them to file a complaint with the Acting V-C and insisted him to visit the hostel to see the plight of the students.
