UoM Acting VC’s visits to girls hostel leads to complaint

The University of Mysore Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dayananda Mane is in news for making frequent visits to girls hostel in the Manasagangothri campus.

These frequent visits by the Acting VC to the girls hostel has prompted the University of Mysore (UoM) Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna to write a letter to the Higher Education Minister Basavaraja Rayareddy. The letter is based on complaints received from the hostel inmates.

According to the complaint, Prof. Mane is said to be visiting the hostel in the early hours of the morning at a time when the girls are dressed casually.

The girls at the hostel reportedly have also taken offence to the Acting VC entering the hostel in his walking dress.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, UoM Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna confirmed  that he had indeed written a letter to Minister Rayareddy requesting him to make a recommendation to the Governor to replace the present Acting VC Prof. Mane following the complaints from hostel inmates and the warden.

Meanwhile, sources at the University said that both the Registrar and the Acting Vice-Chancellor are at loggerheads over few issues which also included providing jobs to people who had recommendations from the Acting VC.

However, Prof. Mane was unavailable for his comment.
