UoM faculty is Visiting Professor at Japan’s Hokkaido Varsity

Mysuru: Dr. S. Chandra Nayak, a faculty in the Department of Studies in Biotechnology,  University of Mysore (UoM), has been appointed as a Visiting Professor at the Hokkaido University in Japan. Currently, Dr. Nayak also holds the position of a Professor in ICAR-AICRP programme, Government of India.

He is an all India head of 11 centres of Pearl millet research laboratories which are located in eight different States, under ICAR, Government of India.

Hokkaido University invites internationally reputed academicians and scientists to improve the quality of education. The Visiting Professors are expected to teach Post-Graduate as well as Ph.D students along with developing bilateral research projects with their faculty members.

Dr. Nayak has been invited to be Visiting Professor at the Global Centre for Food, Resources, Faculty of Agriculture, Hokkaido University. He will be teaching PG students of Food and Agriculture division and also supervising their research projects.

A recipient of Japan’s Young Agricultural Scientist Award-2017, Dr. Nayak has contributed in many ways to the development of agri science in India. He holds four patents and has published 12 books, technical bulletins, popular articles, technical notes and 125 research articles in internationally reputed journals.  He has the scientific citations of over 5000 with an h index of 42. He has submitted more than 1000 DNA sequences of seed-borne pathogens and bio-control agents of Indian origin to NCBI-USA, EMBL- Europe and DDBJ – Japan database. He is the Fellow of Royal Society of Biology, London; Fellow of Karnataka Science and Technology Academy.
