UoM Research Scholars demand Registrar’s removal

Mysuru: The members of the University of Mysore Research Scholars Association have strongly condemned the alleged inhuman attitude of the Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna of the University of Mysore towards Journalism Department’s Assistant Professor Dr. N. Mamatha and demanded his removal.

In a press release, the President of the Association, D. Mahadewaswamy Mangala and others have said that Prof. Rajanna claiming that Dr. Mamatha had staged a protest against him without even submitting an application for the Probationary Period Declaration Letter, was nothing but a conspiracy, was far from true.

The Registrar had kept the files relating to Dr. Mamatha for months and hence she was forced to demand her rights by sitting in dharna in front of the Crawford Hall as her human rights were violated.

However, seeing the injustice meted out to her, Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar had immediately asked the Registrar’s office to trace her file and called Registrar Prof. Rajanna to his office and asked him to sign and immediately issued Dr. Mamatha Probationary Period Declaration letter, they said.

This humane act of the VC is most laudable. It also showed that if the allegations hurled by the Registrar were true, then why it was that he signed the letter, they have asked in the release.

The members of the Association have urged the Chief Minister, Higher Education Minister and the VC to immediately remove the Registrar, according to the release.
