UoM temporary employees begin indefinite strike

Mysuru: Over 100 members of Mysore University Temporary Employees Association commenced an indefinite strike near Kuvempu Statue at the main entrance to the Varsity on Bogadi Road here this morning seeking fulfilment of their various demands.

The members alleged that the temporary employees formed the majority of the employees of the University who have been working on a meagre salary for the last 10 to 15 years.

They pointed out that the Supreme Court had given a judgement saying ‘equal salary for equal work’ which should be implemented and also sought regularisation of temporary employees based on seniority.

Association President Basavaraj C. Jettihundi, Vice-President Manjeshgowda, General Secretary Srinivas, Treasurer Siddaraju and others were present.
