Mysore/Mysuru: The upgraded hi-tech 30 kv Electric Vehicles (EV) fast-charging facility was inaugurated at Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited office in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage here yesterday.
The facility was inaugurated by CESC Chairman Rameshbabu Bandisiddegowda and CESC Managing Director K.M. Munigopal Raju. The facility was launched towards promoting renewable energy usage and developing an eco-friendly transportation system.
Speaking after launching the facility, the CESC Chairman said that the use of Electric Vehicles is increasing steadily and CESC has been encouraging the use of Electric Vehicles as they not only help in reducing air pollution but also decreases dependence on imported fuel.
The present Electric Vehicle charging unit at the CESC office was upgraded to a 30 kv fast-charging capacity, which allows two cars to be charged simultaneously.
With fast charging technology, a car can be fully charged in 40 to 45 minutes.
The new EV charging unit, initiated in collaboration with Zhiyan Electric, can be accessed via the Zhiyan app. At present, the newly launched EV charging unit is limited only to the EVs of CESC officials and staff for testing its efficiency, maintenance and user experience and there are plans to expand it for public use in future, the CESC Chairman said.
CESC Technical Director D.J. Divakar, Chief General Manager (Technical) Sharanamma S. Jangin, Chief Financial Officer G. Renuka, General Managers N.R. Tasneem Tabassum, R. Ramaswamy and H.R. Dinesh and others were present during the occasion.
