Urs community seeks withdrawal of Bangalore Palace land Ordinance

February 1, 2025

Mysuru: Former Urs Mandali President Lingaraje Urs has issued a strong warning to the State Government, demanding the withdrawal of the Ordinance related to the Bangalore Palace property. He cautioned that if the Government fails to act, other communities will unite to fight against it.

Addressing a press conference at the Pathrakarthara Bhavan here on Thursday, he expressed concern over the continuous legal battles faced by the erstwhile royal family of Mysore regarding the Bangalore and the Mysore Palaces.

“The members of royal family are being subjected to unethical actions and harassment, forcing them to spend their lives in  the Law Courts. If this continues, people from across the State will come together to launch a movement,” he warned.

He also questioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s stance on land valuation, pointing out the discrepancy in compensation demands. “Siddaramaiah demands Rs. 60 crore for his three-acre land, yet values around 475 acres of royal family land at just Rs. 11 crore. Even the Court has ruled in favour of the royal family and ordered the status quo, yet the Government continues to mislead the Governor regarding this Ordinance,” he alleged.

Highlighting the Urs community’s status as a minority within minorities, Lingaraje Urs criticised Siddaramaiah’s leadership. “Despite claiming to represent AHINDA (a coalition of minorities, backward classes and Dalits), Siddaramaiah has repeatedly created problems for our community whenever he comes to power,” he stated.

Manoj, Sridhar Raje Urs, Shrikant Raje Urs and Mallaraje Urs were present at the press meet.
