Vaccination prevents death from COVID: Health Education Officer

June 23, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: S. Prakash, Mysuru Divisional Health Education Officer, Department of Health and Family Welfare, has said it is possible to escape from death if vaccinated. The Coronavirus has come for only 0.5 percent of the total vaccinated persons but all of them have survived.

He was speaking in an online programme on the subject ‘Preventive steps to be taken by farmers during Corona and importance of vaccination’ organised by Department of Health and Family Welfare and District Agriculture Training Centre, Naganahalli, here yesterday.

Prakash said by taking vaccine, they can protect themselves from COVID-19 and also check its spreading. After taking two doses of vaccine, immunity will increase in body. However, the Corona positive patients have to wait for a minimum period of three months to get vaccination. The people must compulsorily carry Aadhaar Card or any other ID card issued by State or Central Governments to the nearest vaccination sites in villages to get vaccinated. This will help in making villages free from the pandemic, he added.

He called upon the members of Farmers’ organisations to create awareness among people in villages about Coronavirus, and arrange for vaccination for senior citizens. The Government of India has announced a free vaccination drive for people in the age group of 18 to 44 years and everyone must take advantage of the same. Help must be rendered without ill-treating them. What they look forward was confidence, Prakash said.

The resource person said they lost many senior citizens during the first wave of Corona and many youths in Second wave. Need of the hour was to put up a fight against the pandemic.

Can liquor be consumed after vaccination?

There are rumours about consuming liquor after taking vaccine. It is better to stay away from booze at least for a month. This will help in improving immunity in body. Several departments are working day and night to check the spreading of pandemic. In the interest of society, villagers must take vaccine to make rural areas free from Corona.
