July 17, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah underscored that the physical and mental well-being of citizens is a key indicator of a healthy society.

He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘World Doctors Day’ function organised by Anveshana Seva Trust at the Institution of Engineers auditorium on JLB Road recently.

“National Doctors Day is observed on July 1 every year to commemorate the birthday of the legendary Indian doctor and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. B.C. Roy, and to honour his services to the people. Ironically, July 1 is also the day of his death. All medical organisations in India have unanimously decided to celebrate his birth anniversary as World Doctors Day,” he said.

Highlighting the tireless efforts of doctors in improving patient health and creating a healthy society, Dr. Thimmaiah stressed the importance of physical and mental health for societal well-being. He also noted the need to address other societal issues like poverty and unemployment and advised people to undergo regular medical check-ups.
