Vatal Nagaraj feted: Kannada Chaluvali leader entered Legislature 50 years ago

Renowned Kannada Chaluvali leader and former Legislator, Vatal Nagaraj, was warmly felicitated at a programme jointly organised by Mysuru Zilla Kannada Chaluvaligarara Sangha and Vatal Abhimanigala Balga, marking the 50th anniversary of the entry of the Kannada activist to the State Legislature, at Pathrakartara Bhavan here this morning.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme, veteran writer Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar (CPK) said that it was not an exaggeration to say that today is a historical day for Kannadigas, as Vatal Nagaraj has completed 50 years of his entry to the Legislature.

Explaining the struggles launched by Vatal Nagaraj in his own unique way for the cause of Kannada land, language and water, Dr. CPK said that Vatal was always ready to fight for the rights of Kannadigas.

Noting that Vatal Nagaraj was instrumental in the meaningful official celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava, Dr. CPK said that though Vatal had walked out of the Legislature innumerable times, he never compromised on his principles and philosophies.

Former Assembly Speaker Krishna presided.

Writers Prof. K.S. Bhagawan and Malali Vasanthkumar, Prof. P.V. Nanjaraj Urs, social activists P. Mallesh, Raghuram, Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) President K. Deepak and others were present during the programme.
