Vatal Nagaraj stages protest against GST on food products

Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly opposing the imposition of GST(Goods and Services Tax) on packed food products, Kannada Chaluvali leader and former MLA Vatal Nagaraj staged a demonstration against the Centre at Jayachamaraja Wadiyar circle(Hardinge Circle) in the heart of the city yesterday.

Raising slogans against the Centre, Vatal Nagaraj accused the Government of burdening the common man by imposition of GST on food products such as Butter Milk, Curds, Lassi etc, which are of daily use. Alleging that the Centre is imposing GST on everything, Vatal urged the Government to immediately withdraw GST on essential items and articles that are of daily use and thus come to the rescue of the common man, who is already reeling under soaring prices of essential commodities.

Urging the State Government to nominate a clean hand and an able person for MUDA, Vatal wanted the State Government to go ahead with Mekedatu project as planned, without effecting any changes to the project plan.

Referring to the trial blasts at Baby Betta, Vatal said that the Government must not allow mining or quarrying in the area for any reason. He warned of an agitation if stone quarrying around KRS Dam is not banned immediately.
