Vatal Nagaraj stages protest

Mysuru: Seeking to draw the attention of the Government towards the burning issues haunting the State such as Mahadayi, Kalasa Banduri, Cauvery rows, implementation of Mahajan Report etc., former MLA and Kannada Chaluvali leader Vatal Nagaraj staged a demonstration at the city Railway Station Circle (Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Circle) here this morning.

Alleging that the State MPs have no concern for Karnataka, Vatal denounced the Government’s plan to alter the design of the State Flag. Maintaining that the red and yellow colour flag was representative of 6 crore Kannadigas, he warned of severe protest if the Government went ahead with the move.

Hailing Tipu Sultan as a great ruler who took on the British, he said that he has been advising the Government for years to celebrate Tipu Jayanti. But the Government has woken up now and celebrating the Jayanti, he maintained.

Claiming that the preparations for Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana was going on at a slow pace, he alleged that the Kannada Sahitya Parishat will be active for only one month a year and rests for the remaining 11 months.
