Mysuru: The appointment of Vice-Chancellors to three Universities including University of Mysore (UoM) in the State will be done after discussing with CM H.D. Kumaraswamy after the Budget session, said Higher Education Minister G.T. Devegowda (GTD). Addressing the Media persons here yesterday, he said that Kumaraswamy had called for a meeting today (June 27) regarding the priorities for the Department before the Budget and the same will be placed before him. A decision will also be taken regarding 400 posts of Principals lying vacant in different Colleges in the State, he added.
“University teachers have urged for implementation of 7th Pay Commission. Officials have been directed to gather information from the States of Bihar, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh regarding this issue. As the laptops are a necessity for the students, the confusions created in the distribution will be resolved,” he said.
Recognition for KSOU: The State Government is confident of getting the recognition back to the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). “I will personally meet the UGC Chairman and hold discussions with him and see that KSOU students will not be put to anymore hardships. I will not allow the land belonging to KSOU to be given away to anybody,” GTD assured.
