Vedike opposes indiscriminate de-silting of Tavarekatte pond

June 10, 2019

Mysuru: Members of Mysore Kannada Vedike staged a protest at Tavarekatte on Chamundi Hill Road here on Saturday opposing the indiscriminate de-silting of the pond on the pretext of development.

The members alleged that the District Administration in association with J.K. Tyre had taken up developing of Tavarekatte Pond at a cost of Rs.16.5 lakh.

They pointed out that hundreds of truck loads of very fertile silt from the pond was being shifted illegally to a brick manufacturing factory leaving the pond barren and terminating a copious bloom of lotus.

They urged the Government to halt such unauthorised process on the pretext of development.
