Mysuru: Demanding introduction of internal reservation among SC Communities before making any new appointments and filling up backlog vacancies, the Karnataka Samaajika Nyayapara Vakeelara Vedike staged a day- long demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Bannur Road in Siddarthanagar here yesterday.
Addressing the protestors, the Vedike President and senior Advocate S. Arun Kumar said “The introduction of internal reservation among SC Communities as per the order of the Supreme Court does not go against the aspirations of the Constitution nor does it violate Article 341 of the Indian Constitution.
The then State Government set up the Justice A.J. Sadashiva Commission in 2005 to collect empirical data of SC Communities. The Commission after collecting empirical data and details and statistics of other aspects concerning all SC Communities, submitted its report seven years later in 2012.Thereafter, the BJP Government in 2023 and the subsequent Congress Government in 2024 accepted the report, indicating that they had no objections to the implementation of the recommendations of the report. Even the Siddaramaiah Government at its cabinet meeting held on Oct. 28, 2024, decided not to make any new appointments or fill up backlog vacancies internal reservation is fixed”.
But now the Government is going ahead for filling up backlog vacancies in violation of its own Cabinet decision, which is condemnable. The Government should get an interim report based on Justice Nagmohandas and Justice A.J. Sadashiva Commissions’ recommendations, said Arun Kumar.
