Veena Duet at Mysore Vasudevacharya’s House in city to mark Dasara

Mysore/Mysuru: Senior performing artistes, Vidu. J. Yogavandana and Vid. Balu Masti will be presenting a special Veena duet at the heritage house of Mysore Vasudevacharya in the city on Oct. 1 (Saturday) between 10.30 am and 1 pm. They will be accompanied by Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy on mridanga and Vid. Raghunandan Rao on ghata. The concert at the Acharya’s house is open to all music enthusiasts.

Profile:Yogavandana is a disciple of senior Veena Vidwan V.S. Anantha Rao of Andhra Pradesh. An A-Top graded artiste of AIR and Doordarshan, she has performed in National programmes and in the prestigious Akashavani Sangeetha Sammelana. She has been invited to render performances all over the Southern States and as an empanelled artiste of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), she has toured several countries for performances.

Vid. Balu Masti learned Veena initially from Vid. A.V. Prakash for many years and later has been a student of Vidu. Jayanthi Kumaresh, torch-bearer worldwide for Veena, the National Instrument of India. Vid. Balu has been performing concerts regularly at various places both in India and abroad. Balu is a B.E. in Electronics from SJCE, Mysuru, and has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science & Engineering from USA.

Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy, a staff artiste of AIR and graded A-top, is a leading mridangist, having been in the concert circuit for decades. His student Vid. Raghunandan Rao is a senior artiste of the city, having accompanied many top-notch performers.
