‘Veeneya Bedagu’ Music Fest at Bengaluru from Feb.20 to 23

Veena Seshanna and Swaramurthy V.N. Rao Memorial National Awards Presentation

Mysuru: Veeneya Bedagu, a musical festival has been organised in memory of Veena Seshanna under the auspices of Swaramurthy V.N. Rao Memorial Trust and Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts at Bangalore Gayana Samaja auditorium from Feb.20 to Feb.23. The event schedule                    is as follows:

Feb.20 – 5 pm: Veena recital by Ramana Balachandran accompanied by B.S. Prashant on mridanga and Dayananda Mohithe on ghata; 6.15 pm: Sri Yadugiri Yathiraja Jeeyar Swamiji of Yadugiri Yathiraja Mutt, Melukote, will inaugurate the fest. Malleshwaram Brahmana Sangha President S. Prakash will be the chief guest; 6.45 pm: Vocal recital by Sampagodu Vighnaraja accompanied by H.M. Smitha on violin, K.N. Jayachandra Rao on mridanga and Sukanya Ramgopal on ghata.

Feb.21 – 5 pm: Vocal recital by Vinay Sharava accompanied by Sindhu Suchethan on violin, R. Adamya on mridanga and Bhargava Halambi on khanjari; 6.15 pm: Vocal recital  by R.A. Ramamani accompanied by Ganakalashri Nalina Mohan on violin, J. Vaidyanathan on mridanga and Ranganatha Chakravarthy on ghata.

Feb.22 – 5 pm: Veena recital by Dr. S.V. Sahana accompanied by B.S. Anand on mridanga  and Sachin Devi Prasad on ghata; 6.15 pm: Vocal recital by Sikkil C. Gurucharan accompanied by Ganakalashree H.K. Venkataram on violin, Thiruvaarur Bhakthavatsalam on mridanga and G. Guru Prasanna on khanjari.

Feb.23 – 10 am: Jalatarang recital by Anayampatti S. Ganeshan accompanied by Anayampatti G. Venkata Subramanian on violin, A. Renuka Prasad on mridanga, A.S.N Swamy on khanjari and S.N. Narayanamurthy on ghata; 11.15 am: Presentation of Veena Seshanna Memorial National Award (sponsored by Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade) to Kalaimamani Anayampatti S. Ganeshan and Swaramurthy V.N. Rao Memorial National Award (sponsored by Dr. A.H. Rama Rao & Sudha R. Rao) to Gana Kalabhushana R.A. Ramamani.  Former Chief Justice of India M.N. Venkatachalaiah, Retired IAS Officer and former Ambassador of India to Unesco Chiranjeevi Singh, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts Director Dr. Deepti Navaratna and Bengaluru Circle Canara Bank General Manager D. Vijay Kumar will be the chief guests; 5 pm: Vocal recital by K.V. Krishna Prasad accompanied by Rajagopal on violin, Nishanth Puthur on mridanga and N.S. Krishna Prasad on ghata; 6.15 pm: Vocal recital by Malladi Brothers (Sriram Prasad and Ravikumar), accompanied by Nishanth Chandran on violin, Tumakuru Ravishankar on mridanga and Vyasa Vittala on khanjari.
