Vehicle Inspector, middleman caught while accepting bribe

Mysore/Mysuru: Acting on a complaint, the City Crime Branch (CCB) Police have caught a Vehicle Inspector and a middleman, while accepting a bribe of Rs. 77,000 to provide Driving Licenses (DLs) to 85 students of a driving school yesterday.

Those who were caught red handed while accepting the bribe are Vehicle Inspector Prabhakar, attached to RTO (East) and his assistant Mahesh, a middleman. Sajid Abrar Alvi, owner of Bharat Driving School had provided training for 85 students on driving and had paid the licence fee online for DLs. But, when he contacted Vehicle Inspector Prabhakar in this regard on July 29, the latter had demanded Rs. 80,000 bribe to provide the DLs and the final amount was settled for Rs. 77,000, which was to be given to middleman Mahesh.

As per the deal, when Sajid was handing over the bribe money to Prabhakar and Mahesh yesterday morning, the CCB Police caught them red handed. The accused were produced before a Magistrate yesterday evening, who remanded them to judicial custody, according to CCB sources.

ACB Dy.SP Parashuramappa, Inspectors Karim Rauther, Mohankrishna and others took part in the operation.
