More on vehicles without number plates!

The concern raised by Prof. B.S. Shankara on new two-wheelers moving without number plates in city is highly appreciated (SOM dated Aug. 16).

Here, I would like to inform that it is not just new two-wheelers or cars that run sans registration number plates but even many old vehicles are also being used on city roads by removing either front or rear number plate to escape from the traffic violations.

While some have removed the number plates, many others used very small sized letters, some times not legible also while writing the registration number on the plates.

This indicates that these people want to violate the traffic rules deliberately. With the fear of getting caught for their violations, they are indulging in all these activities.

According to RTO rules, even new vehicles should have the display of the temporary registration number allotted to the vehicle at the time of registration on both sides till they get the actual number.

Later, it needs to be replaced with the assigned registration number without fail. However, many are not following it. I do notice some writing the temporary registration number with a marker pen on both sides of the vehicle. Change must come from within the individuals!
