Vendors make hay, Netas shy away

The scene at NIE-IT counting centre in Koorgalli, which is at a fair distance from the hustle and bustle of the city, was not as enthusiastic as the one seen at Maharani’s College counting centre in Vinayakanagar. Hardly about 2,000 to 3,000 supporters and party workers of JD(S) and BJP had gathered here where counting of K.R. Nagar, Periyapatna, Varuna and Chamaraja seats were taken up.

The supporters of Sa.Ra. Mahesh (JD-S) were upset with the delay in announcing the results and they were seen arguing with the Police.

The BJP workers were in an euphoric mood, as the results of their party’s grand show started trickling in.

Tender coconuts and cucumbers were in great demand to beat the summer heat as people milled around the vendors.

Meanwhile, there were hardly any Congress party workers seen around at NIE-IT though Dr. Yathindra, son of CM Siddharamaiah who had contested from Varuna, was leading in every round.  Even as the BJP was forging ahead in Chamaraja with L. Nagendra in the lead over others, the JD(S) workers were keen to know the difference in lead between the official candidate Prof. K.S. Rangappa and rebel K. Harish Gowda, who  contested as an independent.
