Verbal duel between farmers and District Minister

Land acquisition by KIADB

Mysuru: Strongly opposing the acquisition of farm lands by KIADB for industrial purposes, farmers entered into a verbal duel with District in-Charge Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, during the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of new ‘Pathrakarthara Bhavan’ at KNS Layout on Nanjangud Road here yesterday.

The aggrieved farmers of Marase and Madaragalli villages coming under Varuna Assembly segment,  had come to the venue to apprise former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and District  Minister Dr. Yathindra of the problems they are facing with the KIADB out to acquire their fertile land.

However, Siddaramaiah walked onto to the stage first, where he unveiled the plaque and returned to his car for travel to Suttur Mutt in city. The farmers followed the former CM and tried to stop his car, when they were prevented by the Police, who whisked them away.

Later, Dr. Yathindra got down from the programme stage to hear the farmers. During the talks, the farmers entered into a verbal duel with the Minister.

After the programme got over, Dr. Yathindra resumed talks with the farmers and BJP leader Dr. Shushrutha Gowda, who had accompanied the farmers, in a separate room.

During the meeting, Dr. Yathindra assured the farmers that he would take up the issue of acquisition of 144.31 acre of farmland by KIADB at Marase and Madaragalli villages, with Minister for Heavy Industries M.B. Patil.
