Mysore/Mysuru: The 16th Convocation of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, will be held tomorrow at 1.25 pm at its premises in Shivarathreeshwara Nagar in city.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, who is also the Chancellor of JSS AHER, will grace the occasion.
Vice-President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan, who will be the chief guest, will deliver the convocation address and distribute gold medals and awards.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot will be the guest of honour.
JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Pro-Chancellor Dr. B. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, Registrar Dr. B. Manjunatha and Controller of Examinations Dr. R. Sudeendra Bhat will be present.
A total of 2,925 graduands will receive their qualifications in various faculties — 80 scholars will be awarded Ph.D degrees; 7 candidates will be conferred with Doctorate in Medicine (DM) & Master of Chirurgiae (M Ch) Degrees; 68 meritorious students will receive 100 medals and awards for outstanding academic performances. Also 132 graduates of B.Sc Honors, the first batch of the 4-year degree programme under NEP 2020, are graduating in this convocation.
VP’s visit
In his first official visit to Mysuru after becoming the Vice-President, Radhakrishnan will arrive in the city around 12.30 pm on Nov. 9 by a special helicopter.
After taking part in JSS AHER Convocation, he will visit Chamundi Hill Temple at 4.15 pm.
